These delicious 2-ingredient Southern Comfort cocktails are so simple and perfect for parties! From refreshing tropical drinks to decadent hot cocktails, these drinks are inexpensive to make, whip up super quickly, and always please a crowd!

Two people cheers a Southern Comfort spiked sweet tea in a mason jar and a Southern Comfort cranberry cocktail in a coup glass with a sugar rim.

What Is Southern Comfort?

Southern Comfort (colloquially known as SoCo) is an easy-drinking whiskey liqueur made from a whiskey spirit base, fruits, and spices that’s bottled at 35% ABV. So it’s almost as strong in alcohol content as actual whiskey, but it’s going to be sweeter and fruitier in taste. That’s the long way of saying it’s DANGEROUSLY drinkable, ya’ll 😂

For a quick history lesson: Southern Comfort was invented in New Orleans in 1874 by Irish American Martin Wilkes Heron and was originally called “Cuffs and Buttons” (which is pretty adorable). Since then, the Southern Comfort brand passed between multiple owners, but it’s been owned by Sazerac Company since 2016.

Southern Comfort has always been a super affordable liqueur — a bottle cost $3 in 1889, and today a 750ml bottle still only costs between $12-$14!

Like many older liqueurs, the recipe for Southern Comfort is SUPER secret. It’s so secret we don’t even know one ingredient. We can speculate though based on the flavor profile that it likely contains some form of apricot, vanilla, cinnamon, and cherry flavoring.

What Does Southern Comfort Taste Like?

Southern Comfort pours a clear gold color and instantly hits you with aromas of peach, citrus, cinnamon, and vanilla. On the palate, it’s sweet and smooth with notes of honey, peach, cherry, vanilla, and warm spices. The finish has a subtle whiskey bite with lingering spice and caramel flavors.

You instantly recognize the unique smell and taste of Southern Comfort even if you’ve only had it one time, and people tend to hate it or love it off the bat. I fall in the latter category because I always enjoy a sweet, fruity, spicy liqueur and adds a ton of great flavor to cocktails!

What To Mix With Southern Comfort

Southern Comfort is so easy to drink you can have it alone or on the rocks, but it’s also a super fun cocktail ingredient! Below are some of the more popular mixers to use with Southern Comfort.

  • Orange juice
  • Lemonade
  • Cola
  • Ginger soda/beer
  • Lemon-lime soda
  • Pineapple juice
  • Cranberry juice

This is by no means an exhaustive list, so for more mixer ideas and specific recipes, read onward!

20 Easy 2-Ingredient Southern Comfort Cocktails

These recipes all use Southern Comfort Original and make one serving unless otherwise specified. The ratios for each recipe are based on what I think tastes best, but feel free to adjust them to meet your preferences!

1. Southern Comfort and Orange Juice

To start off, we have one of the most classic Southern Comfort cocktails! Orange juice and SoCo are an obvious pairing since the orange juice works wonderfully with the citrus and whiskey flavors in SoCo.

Pour the ingredients in a glass with ice, stir, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Orange Juice

2. Southern Comfort Sour

Here's a version of a whiskey sour that uses SoCo in place of whiskey for a sweeter, fruitier cocktail.

Add the ingredients to an old-fashioned glass with ice, stir, and garnish with a cherry if you're feeling fancy!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1 ounce Sweet & Sour Mix

3. Southern Comfort and Cranberry

This cocktail is a simplified version of a Scarlett O'Hara, which is made with SoCo, cranberry juice, and lime juice. I find the cranberry juice has enough acidity and tartness that you don't need the lime juice for this drink to be totally delish!

Shake the ingredients in a shaker with ice, then strain into a cocktail glass and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Cranberry Juice

4. Sicilian Kiss

This drink is usually served as a shot, but it's just as good in a larger format! It's fruity, nutty, and perfect for an easy after dinner cocktail.

Pour the ingredients in a rocks glass with ice, stir, and it's ready to enjoy.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1/2 ounce Amaretto

5. SoCo Apple Cider Toddy

This comforting cocktail is truly a hug in a glass! I love making this for parties in the fall since it's easy to make in a big batch and everyone goes crazy for it.

Heat the apple cider and SoCo in a sauce pan on the stove until heated through -- just make sure it doesn't reach a boil. When it's hot enough, pour into your favorite mug and prepare to get cozy!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Apple Cider

6. Southern Comfort Spiked Lemonade

This cocktail is perfect for the summertime and you can use your favorite flavor of lemonade! I personally love it with raspberry or blueberry lemonade.

Add the ingredients to a highball glass with ice, stir it up, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Lemonade

7. SoCo and Lime

Southern Comfort and lime juice are another classic, tried and true pairing! Together, they make a drink that's strong, citrusy, and dangerously drinkable.

Shake the ingredients up in a shaker with ice, strain into a martini glass, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1/2 ounce Lime Juice

8. SoCo Spiked Sweet Tea

Being from the South, I always love a good sweet tea cocktail, and this one packs in a ton of flavor with only two ingredients! You can use your favorite brand of sweet tea (I like AriZona) or make your own.

Add the ingredients to a highball glass with ice, stir well, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Sweet Tea

9. SoCo Manhattan

This cocktail is a pared down, sweet riff on a Manhattan. I'll admit I was skeptical about this recipe, but it's super tasty and definitely worth trying if you like strong but easy drinking cocktails!

Add the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled, strain into a coup glass, and garnish with a cherry or lemon peel!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1/2 ounce Dry Vermouth

10. Southern Comfort and Lemon Lime Soda

SoCo is so great with anything citrusy, so it only makes sense to pair it with lemon lime soda! It's refreshing, bubbly, and sweet.

Add the Southern Comfort to a highball glass with ice, then top with lemon lime soda and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Lemon Lime Soda

11. The Salty Southerner

This is a riff on a Salty Dog, which is a cocktail typically made with grapefruit juice and gin or vodka. The SoCo makes the drink fruitier and sweeter, but the tartness of grapefruit juice keeps it from being too sweet.

Add the ingredients to a glass with ice, stir well, and enjoy.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Grapefruit Juice

12. SoCo and Pineapple

If you like your drinks sweet and fruity, this one is for you! It tastes like a tropical beach cocktail with a nice spicy kick from the SoCo.

Add the ingredients to a glass with ice, stir well, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 2 ounces Pineapple Juice

13. Louisiana Hot Chocolate

This is such a fun and easy hot drink for the holidays or whenever you're craving a cozy, decadent cocktail! You can use your favorite type of hot chocolate -- I like it with milk or dark, but any flavor other than mint would be fab!

Make your hot chocolate to your liking, then simply pour in the Southern Comfort and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Hot Chocolate

14. SoCo Hard Cider

This cocktail is 100% booze and 100% delicious! It's wonderful for the fall with its flavors of apple, warm spices, and vanilla.

Add the SoCo to a glass with ice, then top with a hard cider of your choice and sip away!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Hard Cider

15. Southern Mule

This is a simplified version of a Moscow Mule that's spicy, fruity, and perfectly sweet!

Add the Southern Comfort to a glass with ice, top with ginger beer, and garnish with a lime if you have one on hand.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Ginger Beer

16. Southern Eggnog

This cocktail is so festive for the holidays and beyond delicious! You can serve it hot or cold depending on your preference -- it's wonderful either way.

For a hot cocktail, heat up the eggnog on the stove or in the microwave, then add in the SoCo and serve in a mug.

For a chilled cocktail, add the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice, lightly stir till chilled, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Eggnog

17. SoCo Ginger

This riff on a whiskey ginger is similar to the Southern Mule, but a little mellower and sweeter since it uses ginger ale instead of ginger beer.

Pour the Southern Comfort in a glass with ice, top it off with the ginger ale, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Ginger Ale

18. SoCo and Cola

SoCo and cola is a true classic, and for good reason! You can even use vanilla or cherry cola and it'll be just as tasty.

Add the Southern Comfort to a highball glass with ice, top with cola, and serve.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 4 ounces Coke

19. Southern Comfort Spiked Milkshake

Here's an adult milkshake that makes for a perfect nightcap or dessert! It's great with vanilla ice cream, but it's also amazing with peach or butter pecan. So feel free to experiment!

Let the ice cream thaw out for a few minutes if it's frozen solid, then add it to a blender with the SoCo, blend it up, and serve with your favorite milkshake toppings!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream

20. SoCo Slush

Who doesn't love a good adult slushy!? This recipe yields 8 servings and is perfect for a summer party or whenever you need a delicious frozen drink for a group of people. And if orange isn't your fave, this is equally good with frozen lemonade, limeade, cranberry juice, or apple juice!

If you want it to be super frozen, mix the SoCo and frozen orange juice concentrate together in a punch bowl, then put it in the freezer for 8 hours or until it's your desired consistency.

For a less frozen consistency, freeze it for a shorter period of time OR do what I do and don't freeze it at all!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Southern Comfort
  • 1 can (12 ounces) Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
